Unitech Grande, Noida, India
…Delhi National Capital Region’s biggest and tallest development to date!
Hi all, check this out! (click for larger image):
^^ Look like India to you?
Located in Noida, one of the commercial hubs and one of several future CBDs of India’s National Capital Region (NCR = Delhi, New Delhi and nodal cities), Unitech Group recently announced what will include the tallest approved skyscrapers in the NCR, Unitech Grande.

Noida is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Conceived as a one of several greenfield metropolitan nodes that would focus the development of both Old and New Dehli, it features world-class infrastructure designed to support support high-capacity residential and commercial development. The eventual plan by 2015 is to have a fully modern central business district comprising commercial skyscrapers around at least one supertall — one of several CBD nodal cities (which also includes Faridabad, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad.)

Unitech is one of India’s largest builders, and continually have churned out world-class buildings with a cutting-edge architecture that is designed to be a modern take on traditional Indian architecture, even to the point of being designed to adhere to ancient Vaastu principals. Their towers, like those of all developers in India, continue to grow taller and taller with each project. It’s expected that their Mumbai project on mill-land redevelopments will be even taller still.
For more information, and a large collection of hi-res pictures of this awesome project originally posted by me on Skyscrapercity.com, read on!…

Unitech Grande is located in a sub-section of Noida called “Express City.” In 2006 Unitech purchased the property that would later become Unitech Grande after intense bidding in what was then India’s biggest land deal (in only one year since then, this record surpassed by a factor of several tens larger.)
Unitech Grande comprises over 80 high and mid rises that surround a park and golf course. The tallest at 60 stories, and 8 in the 40 storey range that act as peaks in the string of buildings.
It is the first major development of what will become Noida’s highrise district, with supertall-encompassing CBDs in the works in the next 5-8 years.

^ Note the currently vacant plots around the area. Only 2 years ago this was all farmland.
Here are some more pics of the project taken from a movie walkthrough of the project:

^ Unitech Grande viewed from the Noida Expressway. Two buildings of 45 and 35 stories act as gateways at both ends of the project.

^ A view of the clubhouse and golf course that runs the length in the valley between the two rows of buildings.

^ You can see how the buildings ring the golf course. The taller skyscrapers you see here range from 35-48 stories. The towers will use a bluish tint glass.

^ Continuing to ‘pan backwards’ the last pic so that the towers of the previous pic are now in the far end of the valley, you can see the taller center towers come into view. Part of the 50 storey skyscraper with its beautiful facade can be seen on the left hand side.

^ Panning further backwards we can see the 50 storey tower in all its glory

^ Panning further backwards we can see the 50 storey tower in all its glory

^ A view of the same area panning backwards during the sunset. Note the club on the right hand side.

^ Zooming in close and circling the 50 storey tower. Notice How it is made of three sections. The many rooms have their own balcony-pool.

^ The central skyscraper at night.

[...] an update to my previous post on the NCR’s biggest development, NOIDA | Unitech Grande | *Eighty* 10-60 storey towers, I managed to find a really high-resolution rendering of the [...]
It’s really crazy. It really true that INDIA is going to be hightech. But now we should look further for using Fast track technology i.e. Composite construction instead of R.C.C. construction by the use of high grade concrete & steel, even also by the involvement of Prestressed concrete construction.

This is a totally lopsided development. The government pumps money into the metropolises, especially Delhi, while the bulk of India suffers.
Poor states such as Orissa or Assam, are desparately trying to get foreign invesment, while the center is hell bent on pampering the urban few.
Real development does not come by counting the number of skyscrapers that Delhi has, but examining STATISTICS – literacy rate, per capita GDP, malnutrition rate, average life expectancy, and quality of the environment.
India is not any different from sub Saharan Africa, all those skyscrapers notwithstanding.
What more, selectively pampering a few states will only create secessionist tendancies. Today Kashmir and Punjab, tomorrow Assam, and then, even Orissa.
To the last point:
I’d like to point out that these projects aren’t funded by “the government”.
This is a private undertaking, and in a market like India’s we can’t regulate where these firms invest.
And for everyone’s information, there are MASSIVE investment projects being undertaken by the central and state governments as well as private partnerships in the NorthEast frontier states and in J&K. Only a couple of weeks ago the PM announced a $2bn infrastructure fund for Arunachal Pradesh.
Things take time. Have patience.
The renderings give me a feeling of landing on the planet Krypton (if it exists) with tall buildings in the middle of nowhere. Overall, a creepy feeling.
Satbir,
The projects themselves are not funded by “the government” per se, but everything else is. Once you give proper infrastructure (roads, railway connectivity, airports), erect SEZs to encourage investment, ensure electricity, communication, and internet connectivity, then investments will automatically pour in.
Why else do you think that Noida and Gurgaon (GurGAON, GAON = village) are becoming such world class places? On their own? Guess again.
Thanks !
good project .
