If this is India’s future then where is India in it .None of these buildings depict Indian Architecture although , they are architecturally magnificent themselves .
<<>>
Architecture evolves. Like anything and everything that is alive on this planet. Every and each of these magnificent buildings will, in the core of its only being, contribute to the definition of the conceptual “Indian Architecture” you refer to. The buildings i am seeing here look like no others in the world, this is the “Indian Architecture” i will picture in my mind and generations to come will picture the same, or better. This is development at its best. Quite frankly, i’m amazed. Thumbs up. These are great initiatives, that will create all kinds of economic, industrial and financial growth in their respective recipient areas. I dont think it’s any fair to try to undermine those efforts, in any ways.
I hope the infrastructure catches up with the development!! As the son of an NRI, I will be so heartbroken if India’s growth collapses because of the government’s shortsightedness.
Very good information. I was not aware of this much is happening in skyscraper world in India. Good work. Keep updated.
Amazing – It would have been a great service if the exact location map is included along with the towers for easy reach and will be great help for person like me who have left india over three decades and wish to settle back with our easy chair. A great effort and hats off

to be honest……
thats the result of meaningsless architects trying to create “modern” – european architecture…….
the indian tradition is unvisible in these objects……
this doesn`t mean that the architects should use traditional forms but the critic is that this buildings could stay everywhere…. most renderings even don’t show the surroundings…. f*** the context
the use of a huge amount of glass and steel seems to be the main part of design process….. in 20 years all cities look the same – it does’t matter if its tokyo, berlin, zurich or mumbai….
hey….. v shud be proud to see this development…
infact… india surpasses many almost all countries wen it cums to development… n cuhmon guys… no countries perfect as such… Dubai fer xample u take… the life f a middle class is horrible… v shud b proud f the cuhmfertable living v have here… the only draw back i feel…is the sudden jerk in property rates… its nt at all compatible wid the economy growth… the builders shud pill it down a bit… this also may hinder the development of middle class men…. rich will get richer but the middle class will get poorer…
I, too, am amazed by the growth, or better yet, growth spurt in Mumbai’s almost non-existing skyline. Being of Indian origin, I take great pride in the fact the India is now finally catching up, if not surpassing the rest of the world. The question remains, however, as one comment states above, how will the government sustain such growth and more importantly, will it remain blindsided to the catastrophic environmental implications of such growth and development. I can’t help to think what the living conditions in Mumbai will be twenty years down the road.
Nice compilation, I am surprised there is so much going on! Having just returned from Mumbai (albeit a brief 2 day visit) I did not see any development remotely resemebling these renderings though I did some see some hectic construction in Mumbai and the NCR area… I guess my next visit to India (2010) would be a totally different experience!
I do not understand the nuances of architecture so cannot specifically comment on the “Indianess” of these buildings. To a naive observed like me these look like futuristic designs like those of most other emerging cities (Shanghai comes to mind). I really fail to see anything Indian here but that is not necessarily a bad thing as long as these building are relatively eco-friendly, self sufficient and have open spaces for kids to play and adults to jog/walk etc. That element seems to be easily overlooked in these new projects.
In the 2 days I spent in Mumbai the memory I take back with me is that of pollution, sever traffic congestion, electric outages and water issues… the last 2 were unheard of while I lived there, nearly 10 years ago. I hope these developments in skyscrapers are also accompanied by some much needed infrastructral updates – clean water, sewage, electricity, good roads etc. The govermnent definitely seems to be underplaying this area and if they go at this rate then it would surely be catastrpohic!
Any Infomation about up comming buildings at Hyderabad ?
Really an exhaustive list of skyscrapers in Metro of Mumbai.
Keep posting such stuff
whos going to maintain them thats the important bit!
Good to see new techlologies adopting here and creating international landmarks.

wow!!!
Hey,
this is really great to see that so many multi stories Towers coming up in mumbai . Its was hard to belive on what people alwayz say about mumbai builoder lobby , but only after watching these photograph of the up coming towers my mind is really satisfied, but would these highrise building be afordable to the middle income group, are the property rates really so promissing ?
Good update. The above projects give us a great insight into what future Mumbai will look like. It was high time we got such international level projects.
All Mumbai residents were tired living in the same old structures for years on end, the change is refreshing.
I just hope the BMC is active in planning infrastructure in parallel to this furious pace of real estate growth.
With prices correcting each day these projects will be more affordable as should be.
Is the Cybertecture Egg still being built??? That Park Hyatt Tower/India Tower looks awesome too!!
Raheja Waterfront, Mumbai: 15 towers of 20-25 stories each
can any1 please post details regarding the above???
Rustomjee bought land in Orlem Malad west at Barretto Compound when it will be developed and how and which type of buildings will come up
how many projects have completed or at finishing stage from above mentioned list?
This is good blog & we all must keep it alive for each others benefit.
